Leyton Orient 3-0 Bromley
Leyton Orient 3-0 Bromley

Bromley were taught a lesson in finishing by their League One hosts as The Ravens FA Cup run came to an end in East London.

The Ravens task was made even harder playing the last half an hour with ten men.

The game started with Orient keeping possession well and they took the lead on 6 minutes when Matthew Spring was given too much time and space allowing him to fire in a great goal from 25 yards.

Bromley recovered from the early set back though and had a great chance to equalise when Hakeem Araba set up Gareth Williams, but the Welsh striker shot straight at Ben Alnwick. Soon after Araba fired over when well placed and Rory Hill followed suit.

Late on in the half The O’s had a couple of good chances to double their lead, but Leon McSweeney & Jamie Cureton both missed the target and Williams shot narrowly over from a free kick for Bromley.

The second half saw Bromley start well, but then against the run of play Orient made it 2-0 on 57 minutes when they broke away from defending a set piece and played in George Porter who surged past Ugo Udoji and then blasted the ball home past Tommy Fortune.

Former Cray Wanderers player Porter had taken some terrible stick from a section of the Bromley fans and he ran in front of the travelling support to celebrate.

Then Porter was again involved in the games next incident when he clashed with Aaron Rhule off the ball, Rhule was shown a red card for his part in the scuffle while Porter only received a yellow.

Mark Goldberg made three changes soon after, but the game was now beyond them with a man down and Orient made it 3-0 on 78 minutes when Moses Obudajo hit the post and Jimmy Smith scored from the rebound.

The O’s had three more chances to extend the lead, but Rob Gillman cleared one off the line and Obudajo and Marc Laird both shot wide.

The end of the game saw Bromley’s players come over to the 1,600+ fans who had made the journey to acknowledge their support, but now the cup run is over Goldberg must get them focused back on staying up.
